Qualifications
The National Certificate in Real Estate: NQF Level 5 is designed to meet the needs of those learners who are already involved in the field of Property and Real Estate and have gained the Qualification at level 4. These learners will be in a position now to consider practice in a supervisory / managerial career in the Property and Real Estate Industry. It is also for learners who wish to be employed in this industry. The Property and Real Estate Industry is a well-established industry and by its very nature a constant supply of customers is ensured. This means there is a need to develop career paths in this field, and it is an industry constantly in need of skilled people.
This Qualification is for individuals who are required to practice as an auctioneer at an auction. It goes beyond merely calling the bid, and includes all other aspects related to the auction, such as classifying and lot allocation of the auction stock, valuation of moveable assets and the legal background pertaining to conducting an auction. The core unit standards will cover aspects pertaining to General Assets, and the learner may further choose to specialise in either Real Estate, Movable Assets or Agriculture, with specific competencies related to the specialisation area being included in the elective category. This Qualification will provide the broad knowledge, skills, values and attitudes required to become a competent auctioneer.
This Qualification is for any individual who is, or wishes to be involved in the property and real estate industry. It serves to support and advance the functioning of individuals in this industry. The attainment of the Qualification represents the prerequisite for admission to the professional examination for estate agents, to be conducted by the Estate Agency Affairs Board, the successful completion of which will entitle the candidate to be registered as a non-principal estate agent by the Estate Agency Affairs Board.
This Qualification is for individuals who would like to enter into a career in the Auctioning sector. This qualification will provide the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in Auctioneering and provide the necessary administrative and support functions. The core unit standards cover aspects pertaining to general processes conducted at an auction, and the learner may further choose to specialise in either Real Estate, Agriculture or Movable Assets, with specific competencies related to the specialisation area being included in the elective category.
This General Education and Training Certificate: Business Practice is for utilisation by all members of the population. Anyone preparing to become employed, or self-employed, in any business whatsoever would be the persons most likely to be attracted to this qualification. In fact many newly (or not-so-newly) appointed personnel, or struggling entrepreneurs, could benefit from part or all of this qualification. It seeks to embed the six key literacies required by business organisations: Numeracy, Literacy, Entrepreneurial, Financial, Technological and Cognitive.
The GETC: Business Practice integrates the literacies into one qualification while also allowing each to be addressed separately in short courses and skills programmes, based on the constituent unit standards.
Competent learners will be able to enter the work place in most sectors and be able to do the entry-level work required of them. Learners would have developed initiative and business skills as well, as entrepreneurial skills which they can apply in a company or which would assist them to establish their own small businesses. This is critical to support the economic growth required to enable our country to support and develop all of our people.
The purpose of the Qualification is to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge required by a person for the establishment and development of a small to medium business venture, and address the economic, administrative and behavioural (psycho-social) barriers that contribute to success in starting and sustaining the venture.
This qualification is intended for persons who wish to start, operate, manage and grow a new small to medium business venture. Learners attempting this qualification will be equipped with a variety of technical, business managerial and personal skills and strategies to help them succeed in the creation and sustenance of a business. The successful learner will develop a sound foundation for the application of these skills and knowledge to explore a diverse range of entrepreneurial opportunities.
The purpose of the NQF level 2 New Venture Creation qualification is to provide a qualification that can form the basis for structured programmes for potential and existing entrepreneurs to capitalise on opportunities to start and grow sustainable businesses that form part of the mainstream economy, enabling the learners to tender for business opportunities within both the public and private sectors. This qualification is designed for learners who intend to set up or have already set up own ventures. Assessment of the competencies and knowledge in the qualification needs to be done in the context of the learner’s own new venture.
This qualification is intended for junior managers of small organisations, junior managers of business units in medium and large organisations, or those aspiring to these positions. Junior managers include team leaders, supervisors, foremen and section heads.
